The highly regarded youngster has left Old Trafford on a permanent deal on deadline day.
Manchester United have confirmed this morning that Dutch teenager Dillon Hoogewerf has completed a transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach on a permanent basis.
Hoogewerf has spent the last two seasons playing for the Manchester United academy teams after joining from Ajax’s youth system in 2019 for a fee of £117,000.
He was widely regarded as a big talent across the youth teams with the 18-year-old boasting an impressive 18 goals with 12 assists in an impressive debut season with United’s under-18 side where he made 35 appearances.
It is said that Manchester United were happy to allow Hoogewerf to move for his own benefit but also due to their extensive attacking depth across the academy.
Hoogewerf was playing amongst the likes of Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeil, to name a couple of United’s promising youth forwards.
The move has been completed with an undisclosed fee and the agreement includes a sell-on fee which would see United profit from any future sales of the young attacker.
The club’s website stated that ‘Everybody at Manchester United would like to wish Dillon well for the future’.
Hoogewerf is among a number of outgoings from the January transfer window, however his move comes as a surprise to many Manchester United fans who have displayed their shock on social media that the club let such a talent leave on a permanent move.
Nevertheless, we wish Dillon the best of luck with the rest of his career as he moves on from Manchester United. There is no doubt that the teenager will prove successful in years to come.
